What is democracy and how is it different from other countries’ political agenda?

Why do other countries hate democracy? What is good about their style of government compared to America’s democracy? Was Democracy a government that we adopted from Europe? If so, wasn’t this the same continent (Europe) that created slavery amongst the world with Africans and Jews? If this is true, then why would anyone in their right mind want to adopt a form of government that had this past beliefs?

We do not have western style democracy in China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia or Bengladesh. What kind of democracy is the world asking for democracy in Myanmar Aung San Su Kyi grew up in the west. She failed to negotiate with the military for the past 19 years. Please someone enlighten with me what kind of democracy the west and Su Kyi wants to establish in Myanmar. Will it ever happen or not? Meanwhile people got killed and displaced asking for it.

My question as stated above is how does religion and democracy play a role in the United States today. What I mean by this is how do they go “hand in hand” and make an effect on society today? One example I have is by the first ammendent. Freedom of religion, democracy is what gives us the freedom of religion. If you can think of any other topics on this subject that would be great.

I’ve heard that the U.S. constitution forms a republic whereas Thomas Jefferson had a democracy in mind. What is wrong with democracy? The ignorance of the masses? Isn’t a republic just an indirect democracy?
Wow. Looks like I hit a nerve with this question. It might be too volatile a subject to get a straight, unbiased answer. Which means there probably isn’t one.

there is a great debate over the meaning of democracy. many believe citizens should have greater involvement in government decision-making, and therefore support direct and deliberative democracy. what are “direct” and “delibrative” forms of democracy? Critically assess them.

So i have to write a paper on this topic… Can anyone please help me how to start and what things to talk about?????
